Salta, is the capital city of the Province of Salta. The Province of Salta is located in Argentina's far north, and, at the same time, the City of Salta, is located in the center of the province, very close to San Salvador de Jujuy.

The city has more than half a million inhabitants, becoming the 7th most populated city in Argentina. Due to its impressive and scenic nature, Salta receives a large number of tourists and visitors annually. Some of the most visited and attractive touristic points within Salta are: Tren a las Nubes, the famous Iglesia de San Francisco, Plaza 9 de Julio, Museo de Arqueología de Alta Montana de Salta, Virgen de Los Tres Cerritos, and Catedral de Salta, among many other local landmarks.

The city is also very close to cities in Chile, Bolivia and Paraguay, so it is possible to take buses to international destinations, thus, it is very common for travelers from Chile, Bolivia and Paraguay to visit the City of Salta.

Information about San Pedro de Atacama:

San Pedro de Atacama is a small town, and a commune of Chile, that is located within the Province of El Loa, at the same time, within the Region of Antofagasta. San Pedro de Atacama is in north-west Chile, almost bordering with the neighboring countries of Chile, Bolivia and Argentina.

The entire commune of San Pedro has around 5,000 inhabitants. The small commune is mostly known and visited (initially by just few South American travelers in the region, but nowadays it's well known around the world) for being "the entrance" of the famous Atacama Desert, so most of the people who go to visit the desert, also visit and appreciate the town of San Pedro de Atacama.

Some points of interest (without taking account of the Atacama Desert) are: Valle de la Luna, Géiseres del Tatio, Laguna Chaxa, Iglesia de San Pedro and Salara de Tara, among some other local landmarks.
